I had a conversation with Neel Kolhatkar about his series “Crossing the Line”. We discuss his experience as he went about making this series. Humour is a very complex subject. What constitutes a good joke? What is socially acceptable and what isn’t acceptable is something very complicated. The experience a comic has in front of a live audience does not necessarily translate when the same content goes live online on Youtube. In such a complex scenario should comics censor themselves? If yes who gets to decide what should be censored? Are there any universal standards? Neel is an amazing comic and in my view one of the smartest and most creative comics that I have ever come across.
