In response to that order, the residents of the approximately 4,000-odd encroached homes are protesting. Today the Supreme Court has heard the case and has stayed the Uttarakhand HC’s order of #Haldwani eviction of over 50,000 people and the matter will be taken up on February 7, 2023. The Supreme Court said, “People who don’t have a right over the land will have to be removed along with a rehabilitation scheme, while considering the railways interest”.
